What I Been Doin'
For the past week, I've been working on one spot. That may not sound like much, but at PlattForm, it's not unusual to be working on 5 or 10 (or more) spots in any given week. So it was nice to be able to concentrate on only one project, and put an appropriate amount of time in on it.
So what was the end result? A near-copyright infringing spoof of Super Mario Brothers, drawn pixel by pixel in Pixen, animated in Adobe After Effects, and cut in Leitch VelocityQ. Its title is "8-Bit Theater."

... and right-click here to download the spot (2.6mb). For all you lucky 5th Gen iPod owners, this H.264-encoded QuickTime file is iPod-ready. (Requires QuickTime 7.) Keep in mind that It doesn't look as good at this small resolution.
The music is an edited version of "Coccinelle" from Seb's Open Research, and is covered under a Creative Commons "By" license. I should warn you that it will get stuck in your head. Most of my coworkers who have seen the finished spot have all experienced this.
The last time I posted a spot I've done at PlattForm, it was also an animated spot, but this is not all that I do. I plan to upload more of my recent work here in future updates, so stay tuned.
Also, on January 18th, I start a class in Maya 3D at JCCC to get a little career training for myself.
